Police product insights: 221B Tactical's Maxx-Dri Vest
By Police1 Staff
Ten years ago, Police1 published an interview with Suresh Madhavan, a 13-year police officer, about his invention of the Maxx-Dri Vest — a product designed to keep officers cooler and more comfortable under ballistic armor.
The idea was born after Madhavan suffered through sweltering New Jersey summers, determined to find a solution for the heat and discomfort caused by wearing body armor. Teaming up with a textile expert, he created the Maxx-Dri Vest, which has since sold over 300,000 units and remains a flagship product for 221B Tactical, the company he co-founded.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of both the Maxx-Dri Vest and 221B Tactical, and the company is launching the Maxx-Dri 5.0, an upgraded version offering better ventilation and adjustability. The success of the vest has paved the way for other innovative tactical products that enhance officer safety and comfort.
To commemorate this milestone, Police1 once again spoke Madhaven to discuss the evolution of the Maxx-Dri Vest and the company’s impact on law enforcement gear. To order your Maxx-Dri Vest, click here.
